What festival is Lohri?

Lohri, also known as Lohadi or Lal Loi, is a time to pray to the God of Fire and seek blessings for family and loved ones. This festival marks the beginning of the harvest season and the ripening of winter crops. May their crops grow well….. Lohri festival is celebrated with traditional passion and enthusiasm mainly in Punjab and other parts of North India. This festival is actually a celebration of rabi harvest at home.

A legend attributes the celebration of Lohri to the story of ‘Dulla Bhatti’ who was a local hero of the Punjab region and acted as the savior of the people during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar, as he would steal from the rich for the poor.
